Photo Tales by Daniel Botelho Written by Jan Tutoky An Elephant Takes a Bath Fate and coincidence are unpredictable. We first met up with the Brazilian photographer Daniel Botelho in June 2015 during our Great White Shark Expedition to the Republic of South Africa. Together we would set out in a boat from Gansbaii Port in search of this feared predator and whenever bad weather foiled our plans we spent long hours in discussion over endless cups of coffee. Daniel had come to South Africa to shoot a series of photographs for the National Geographic magazine while the Czech Heartcore film crew was into its second year filming a documentary on the Great White. One word led to another until one evening we asked him to pick out four of his favourite photographs and tell us the story of how he shot them. Today we are bringing you the first of his incredible tales. gallery Daniel Botelho Daniel Botelho is an award winning photo journalist from Brazil who specializes in underwater photography. His work can be seen in more than a hundred advertising campaigns. Daniel’s connection with nature dates back to his childhood, growing up as he did in Rio de Janeiro, midway between the sea and the rainforest. Nowadays Daniel contributes to various publications in more than twenty countries. Deeply concerned by the devastation of the earth’s oceans, Daniel has become a warrior for whales and sharks which are threatened with extinction thanks to unsustainable massacres. “It is not about the eyes, the camera or the lenses; I take photos with my heart. I am in love with the subjects I capture and I want to spread that love through my images. I hope you will all enjoy browsing my website and, please, help me spread this love. It´s the only way to save our seas. Respect and love the oceans!” website FACEBOOK
